Oh My Hero

Hero! it’s a fascinating word. Since young, we heard this word from Disney movies, from TV commercials, everywhere.

If we give an imaginary heroes from the fantasies, there are superman, batman, etc that saves human lives and kills the evil.

There are lots of definitions for a hero.

One definition could be a man who led his group, or a country into a great success. He is a hero. For example, FDR in America is considered a hero (although there is still a conspiracy whether he was a good president or not.). Lincoln, Washington, and other great men are considered the hero of the country. Also Napoleon, in some aspect.

And, there is another type of a hero, who sacrifices himself to save another. Not just helping, but saving.

In a manga called Naruto, there are lots of types of heroes. Naruto is a manga (a japanese graphic novel aka comic book) dealing with ninjas.

Lots of people there throw his body to save his comrade. That is unbelievable.

Who, in this world, is committed to throw away his life to save someone else?

Even i would be reluctant.

That is truly a big deal.

These heroes are recognized and remembered through generations and generations.

Heroes are made only at the worst time, because then he could work at his best ability, and his works might be exaggerated.

Do we need a hero, now, in Korea, where everyone’s happy?

Maybe there could be some personal heroes, but i don’t think there could be a hero for the whole people.

It’s a peaceful time. No such thing like mafia are rampaging around. The world’s got pretty safer and securer than before.

Presidents, both Korea and America (they’re the only one i knew these days) are both being scolded by their people. They make wrong decision, and people try to meddle every single pieces of their privacy.

They’re not a hero.

Actually, do we need a hero, in this friendly friendly world?

Is actually a hero one time, or all time all star?

Maybe we’re just children who only know how to receive, but not to understand.

For example, suppose there is a kid. When his dad came back from his hard work of the day, he brought him a present, the toy the kid always wanted. Not usually, the kid seems to welcome the present more than his dad. The existence of dad had been buried under by the kid’s delight in the present.

Maybe the kid is us people. We receive all kinds of benefits, and we don’t realize who’s behind it. And we see clearly how the president did something wrong, because those can’t be hidden by the eyes of the critiques.

i can’t really say anything about it because I’m still young and I don’t know that much.

However, in a good time like today, I think just being like Bush or Roh is enough.

maybe.

One Response to “Oh My Hero”

  1. Hi, I’m Michelle from Punahou in Hawaii and I wasn’t assigned to read your blog, but I was browsing and just happened to come across this post you wrote. Well I just wanted to say that I agree with what you say about us receiving benefits, but not knowing whose behind them. We don;t even take time to thank those people. Also I would be reluctant at first to give up my life to save someone else because I would be hesitant. I hope I would give up my life and do the right thing, but I don’t know what I would do in that actual situation.
